Are you an art history buff? If so, this is the perfect day for you. This day will cover minimalism's history and impact, and will ultimately answer, "What is Minimalism?"

History of Minimalism>

10:00am – 1:30pm

Minimalist design has had a huge prevailence throughout the 20th century and has become a rapidly growing design element the past couple of years. Less is More will breakdown the history of minimalist design starting with the De Stijl movement in the early 1900s and move through the Bahaus and International Type Style and into what minimalist design has become today.

Participants will gain a keen understanding of where minimalism came from, how it evolved, and what it is today.


1:30pm – 2:30pm

No need to rush out, lunch will be provided thanks to Dominos Pizza.

Impact of Minimalism>

2:30pm – 5:30pm

Just as important as the history of minimalism, is its impact.

Topics will cover how minimalist design is being used today, what companies are using, and whether or not these companies took the right strategy by going minimal.

Key Speakers

The best minimalists from around the world are coming together to present their process and work.

Andrew Kim>

10:00am – 11:00am

Known for his stunningly simple concept for rebranding microsoft that he published on his blog minimally minimal, Andrew Kim truly knows how to implement a "less is more" approach to design.

Andrew kim will talk about his process and what he's been up to with Microsoft.

Dietar Rams>

11:00am – 12:00pm

When talking about minimalist design, one name stands out above them all, and that's Dieter Rams. An industrial designer that has influenced just about all of our current tech devices, Dietar Rams will walk you through how he developed his skills and his "10 principles of good design" that have made him the designer he is today.

Olly Moss>

12:00pm – 1:00pm

Most famous for his posters, Olly Moss has perfected the art of showing only what is absolutely necessary.

Olly Moss will walk you through his brainstorming process and talk about what is was like to work with major companies like Marvel Entertainment and Sony.

Rob Dobi>

2:00pm – 3:00pm

With a heavy influence in the online illustration world, Rob Dobi is known for his minimal concepts poking fun at the "working world" and consumerism.

Some of Rob Dobi's clientele include Michael Jackson, Eminem, and the Rolling Stones just to name a few.

Rob Dobi is going to take participants through process of finding out what is really out the core of a brand and how to exploit that image.

Day 03
June 03, 2013


After two days, participants will be put to test in workshops to help them "think less." Workshops will be offered in different categories to help participants design in the most minimal way.

Thanks to this years, biggest sponsor, Apple, $300, $500, and $1000 Apple giftcards will be given out to the best 3 designs in each category!


10:00am – 10:30am

Participants will be given a brief intro into today's schedule and will sign up for the workshop of their choice.

Interactive Workshops>

10:30am – 2:00pm

After breaking up into groups, participants will be given a brief by their group leader and will begin working on their project.


2:00pm – 3:00pm

No need to rush out, lunch will be provided thanks to Dominos Pizza.

3:00pm – 5:00pm

After lunch, particpants will get back into their groups to put the finishing touches on their project.

Judges Review>

5:00pm – 6:00pm

Once it hits 5:00pm, participants will turn in their work to be judged by a panel of professional judges, that will select the best of the best.

Award Ceremony>

6:00pm – 7:00pm

Our panel of judges will present 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards to the best designs in each of the four categories.
